We provide a bike rack on the front of every fixed route bus. Racks can carry up to three bikes. Spaces on the rack are first come, first served. However riders can add or remove their bikes from any of the rack slots, even when the other slots are full.āā
Follow the instructions below, or watch our short video at the bottom of this page.
āāāPull up on the handle to release. Lower the rack with one hand while holding your bike with the āother. Follow the instructions on the rack where it says to "Place the front wheel here" and lift your bike into one of the bike wheel wells. Even with one or two bikes already on the rack, it is easy to load or unload a second or third bicycle.āāāāāāāāāāā
ā
Pull the support arm up, out and over the front tire as high on the tire as it will go. This secures your bike in place.āāāāāāā
āāā
āā
Before you get off the bus, be sure to tell the driver you are unloading your bike! āāā
āTo unload the bike, pull the support arm up and off the tire. Pull your bike off the side of the rack, toward the curb. āNever ride out in front of the bus. If your bike is in back, you do not need to remove the bikes in front. Return the bike rack back into standing position if no other bikes are on the rack.ā
Single seat, two wheeled bikes are allowed. Both wheels must fit into the bike rack wheel slots and the support arm/hook must fit over the top of the bike wheel. No part of the bike can block the driverās view. Electric bikes are allowed, as long as they do not weigh more than 50 pounds. Gas-powered and two-stroke engine bikes are not allowed.
āāCollapsible bikes are always allowed inside the bus, provided they fit in the space underneath the seat or in between the seat rows.āāā
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee space to rack your bike. Bike racks are first come, first served. For trips where a bike and bus are both needed, we recommend a collapsible bike.ā ā
āDrivers may allow up to two bikes to be brought on boardābut only if they determine it is safe, and there is enough room to do so. āā
When you get off the bus, remind the driver that you'll be removing your bike from the rack. Once you've removed your bike, move to the curb side of the bus. Never ride out in front of the bus. āā
WTA assumes no liability for injuries, or for damage to bikes or personal property, while using bike racks or securement stations. āā
WTA provides bikes racks at all of its transit stations.āā
