About WTA Fares

WTA accepts multiple payment options across all fixed route buses. Youth (ages 18 and under) ride free on all services.

Payment Options

• Contactless Tap to Pay: Credit cards, debit cards, and mobile wallets (Apple Pay and Google Pay).
• Umo Card or App: Pre-loaded stored value purchased online, in the app, or at retail locations across Whatcom County.
• Exact Cash: Accepted on board (drivers cannot make change).

Automatic Fare Capping

Pay with the same payment option each time and your fares are capped automatically!

• Daily Cap ($6.00): After paying $6.00 in a single day, all remaining rides that day are free.
• Monthly General Cap ($60.00): After paying $60.00 in a calendar month, all remaining rides that month are free.
• Monthly Reduced ($30.00): After paying $30.00 in a calendar month, all remaining rides that month are free.

Note: Fare capping applies automatically when tapping the same payment method for each trip. Fare capping does not apply to cash payments.
