When and Where Can I Ride?
ADA Eligible Trips
If you are ADA eligible, you can take trips within 3/4 mile from a transit route (this is called the ADA Service Area). These trips are scheduled during the same days and hours that the transit bus operates.
Additional Trips
We also provide additional service on a time-and-space available basis outside of the ADA Service Area to ADA-eligible riders and WTA-eligible riders.
When Does Specialized Transportation Operate?
- Within 1.5 miles from a bus route, we operate during the same days and hours as the bus.
In General, Specialized Transportation Hours of Service Are:
Weekdays: 6:00 am to 7:30 pm
Saturdays: 9:00 am to 6:30 pm
Sundays: 9:15 am to 7:00 pm
In some neighborhoods, service may be available between Ferndale, Lynden, and Bellingham earlier or later. Call us for more information at (360) 733-1144 or TTY (360) 676-6844.
A good rule of thumb is that if the transit bus travels in the same direction and at the same time you want to go, then Specialized Transportation service is available to you.
- More than 1.5 miles from a bus route, Specialized Transportation operates up to two days a week. Call WTA-ST for the service schedule in your area. If you do not know if your trip is within our service area, please ask us for help.
Holidays
WTA does not operate on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Our passengers use Specialized Transportation for many types of trips, including shopping, going to movies, keeping medical or beauty shop appointments or visiting friends.
If you have a medical emergency, please call 911. Our drivers are not paramedics and cannot transport persons who should be traveling by ambulance.
