Emergency Ride Home
What is it?
The Emergency Ride Home program provides you with a free taxi ride (in Whatcom county only and to and from Skagit County only--no in-Skagit-only travel) for an emergency on a day that you arrived to work by bus, vanpool, carpool, bicycling, or walking.
Who Can Use It?
You are eligible if you are:
1. a current WTA bus pass holder or a registered Smart Trips participant
2. if you arrived to work (on the day of the request) by bus, vanpool, carpool, bicycling, or walking.
Eligible participants can receive up to thee Emergency Rides Home per calendar year.
When Can You Use It?
You can call for an Emergency Ride Home if:
- you or a family member becomes ill during your work day
- your supervisor requires you to (unexpectedely) work past your normal quitting time
- your carpool or vanpool driver experiences any of the above situations
How Do You Use It?
- Call 676-RIDE to book your ride
- The WTA Customer Service Representative will confirm that you are a current WTA bus pass holder, vanpooler, or a registered Smart Trips participant
- The WTA Customer Service Representative will request your travel information, assign you an authorization number and book a taxi pick-up for you
- If you are a bus pass holder, give the taxi driver your authorization number and show your WTA bus pass. Smart Trips participants, give your authorization number only.
- You can make one stop en route from your worksite (as needed to pick up a prescription, a sick family member, etc.)
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
