Flex Service is a hybrid between fixed route and Specialized Transportation. Flex buses serve fixed bus stops along their route but also “flex” off the route to pick up and drop off passengers closer to their starting place or destination. Flexing occurs within a designed service area. There are no eligibility requirements for using Flex service; anyone within the designated area can request a flex trip. Requests must be made at least two hours in advance or by 5 pm the day before for morning service.
FLEX routes serve the following areas:
1) Blaine/Birch Bay area via Ferndale to Cordata Station. Route 55
2) Everson/Nooksack/Sumas to Cordata Station. Route 71X
3) Kendall/Mt. Baker Highway to Bellingham Station. Route 72X
Cancellations and No-Shows
If your plans change and you do not need your Flex trips, please call to cancel at least one hour before your pickup time. WTA enforces a No-Show policy which can result in suspension of service if riders habitually fail to inform us of cancelled trips.
Bike racks are available on all FLEX buses. As with all buses, space is limited and racks are first come, first served.
Flex Route fares are the same as regular bus fare: $1.00 cash or valid pass, or 50 cents with a valid Reduced Fare Card.
